The Institute started Filmscool based on the belief that if young people are given the opportunity to channel their creativity and enthusiasm in a positive way, the outcome might just amaze us all. This unique program introduces young people living in the inner-city to the world of filmmaking. All Filmscool students attend the program on a full scholarship and are provided with all the equipment and technology necessary to create and produce their own work from start to finish.

The Institute is excited about the results and national attention this program is garnering.  Filmscool operates under the watchful eye of Leo Redgate and experienced independent film director/producer and Community Film Institute board member Mick Reed.  The Institute looks forward to further expansion of this program as well as other outreach initiatives through our partnerships with institutions, corporations and like-minded individuals who want to make an impact on children living in the inner-cities.
